Reverse Engineering

Reverse engineering of critical equipment should only be handled by companies with the expertise, technology, and equipment to ensure a successful project.  A successful reverse engineering project is more than digitizing a three-dimensional object.  At Knighthawk Engineering we have the in-house expertise to model the equipment and the application.  This is an essential step in the reverse engineering of critical equipment. We have also, invested in the latest technology in training and equipment.

Our process affords our clients the greatest level of confidence possible in a reverse engineered component.  If you have critical rotating or static engineered equipment that needs to be reverse engineered, it deserves the Knighthawk Engineering solution.

We will model the equipment and the greatest ensures that your critical equipment will not be at risk.

Nondestructive Testing Establish goals and objectives for the effort, including process, mechanical, electrical/controls, and materials engineers.

Machinery Design Create process specification sheet(s).

Reverse Engineering Develop a detailed mechanical specification.

Rotating Equipment Analysis Utilize our digital laser scanner to recreate the geometry.

Equipment Failure Analysis Verify the materials of construction.  If required, perform a materials analysis.

Prototype Design Develop a performance model based on the geometry collected. This may include CFD and FEA models.

CFD Once all models match up, engineer the upgrade.

Be careful not to violate any patents or legal agreements. Many times, patents are no longer valid as they have run out. Also, it is generally the case that the parts are not covered by any patents; as method and technology has been in the public domain for years.
